A rainy Winter and a hot Spring brought us a healthy and calm final cycle and harvest.

Show Tasting Notes for El BUSCADOR 2016

Unusually dry and hot Fall and Winter with much higher temperatures than usual in these seasons (22ºC at Christmas week, i.e.). Spring started with average between 15º and 18ºC waiting for some “desired” rain in order to avoid the Hydric Stress of the plants. On August the 30th and September the 9th rains the quantity enough (7 l/m) for refreshing the grapes and lifting the skins. Short crop but with a high quality in the Norther Rioja. Qualified by Consejo Regulador like Very Good.  .

COLOUR  , Intense and brilliant cherry colour with violet hints that show its freshness and beautiful thinness

We keep our usual varieties in our BUSCADOR , Tempranillo and Garnacha but, changing slightly the average into a 70% of Tempranillo and 30% of Garnacha from our plot Las Ginebras in the slope of Monte Toloño in Labastida

Nose: The average of American oak used in this wine makes it attractive from the very beginning. Ripe red fresh fruit perfectly balanced with smooth aromas of coconut, hazelnut, pudding and liquorice

Mouth: In this wine, 70% is aged in French used oak barrels and 30% in American barrels. This blend makes the lovely complexity of this wine, with delicate and elegant tannins. A serious but funny wine, fresh, round friendly and juicy.

EL BUSCADOR 2016 is a very versatile wine, ideal “by the glass” or for paring with food. We recommend to be served at 16ºC
